Auto drivers threaten fast-unto-death if fares not increased

Hyderabad: Telangana Auto Drivers Unions JAC convener Mohd. Amanullah Khan has threatened to go on fast-unto death if the existing Auto fares in the City are not increased on par with the neighboring States within a Fortnight.
Addressing mediapersons here today, Amanullah Khan said there was no upward revision of auto fares since the last four years, due to which, the Auto drivers in the State capital were finding it difficult to carry passengers as per meter charges. He alleged that Traffic police and RTA officials were booking cases against the auto drivers if they demanded extra fare and collecting heavy fines from them.  Recently the Nampally Traffic Police booked a case against an Auto driver Jangaiah for demanding extra fare and was sent to jail by the Nampally Court for eight days.
Amanullah Khan also pointed out that the auto fares were not increased after February 14, 2014 and the Traffic police were booking cases against  aut drivers for demanding extra.
