Hyderabad, : On the occasion of 50th Navy Day, Rich tributes and homage were paid to the Martyrs at Veerula Sainika Smarak (War memorial), Parade Ground, Secunderabad here on December 4 (Saturday) by Indian Naval Personnel.
Navy Day is celebrated on December 04 in commemoration of Operation Trident, the attack launched by the Indian Navy on Karachi harbour during 1971’s India Pakistan war. It was for the first time that an anti-ship missile was used on land assets in an operation conducted on the night of 04-05 December 1971 and inflicted heavy damages on Pakistani land assets
Rear Admiral Kosigi S Venugopal, VSM (Retd) laid a wreath on behalf of the Naval Veterans. Station Commander (Navy) Rear Admiral V Raja Sekhar, VSM, laid a wreath on behalf of the Indian Navy, Hyderabad Station.
Outreach to the community in the form of assistance to orphanages, blood donation and Band concert are also being conducted as part of the Navy Week activities.
