CM urged to lift restrictions on GP funds

Hyderabad, Sept.6 : The Nagaram village Sarpanch Boodidha Mallesh today urged the Chief Minister of the state KCR to immediately lift the freezing status on the funds of his village panchayat and the panchayats of the entire state and sanction funds every month. He said that freezing of the Village panchayat funds was causing a lot of problems to the village sarpanches. He wrote a letter to the CM on the issue.

He told the CM that they had taken up the palle pragathi works in his village as per the instructions of the state government. He told the CM that the cheques related to the execution of the works under the palle pragathi Origen were lying pending with Manthani Sub Treasury Officer (STO) for the past some time. He said that the non release of the funds by the state government was causing a lot of problems to the sarpanches belonging to weaker sections of the society.

He also said that the impact of the same was also being reflected on their families. He told the CM that the delay in the release of the funds was creating several problems in the village. He urged the CM to handover the responsibility of maintenance of street lights to the village sarpanches instead of hired contractors, who are not discharging their responsibilities on time.

Speaking to this correspondent, Mallesh said that he had also submitted a similar representation to the chief secretary of the state Somesh Kumar and urged him to issue orders to de-freeze the GP funds.
