Huzurabad bypoll likely after Dasara: EC

Hyderabad, Sept.4 (Safir News): Election Commission of India has informed that the by-election for Huzurabad segment in Karim Nagar district of Telangana is likely to be conducted after Dasara festival.
On September 1 the EC held a key meeting with the Chief Secretaries of the states going for the polls on preparedness and the Corona cases. Taking their opinion the EC took a call to see that the by-poll in Huzurabad and Badwel in Kadapa district are to be conducted after Dasara festival. It will be either in October end or November first week as the Andhra Pradesh government also sought the polls should be postponed.
The Huzurabad segment is vacant after Etela Rajender lost his health minister post and resigned to the TRS as an MLA and joined the BJP fold. After that all the political parties were gearing up for the by-polls and started campaigning.
The segment is getting heat with continuous political meetings and campaigns after announcement of Dalit Bnadhu scheme.
The Election Commission made it clear that there will be no immediate polls in near future despite the corona pandemic is just declining. The EC stated that the Telangana Government urged for conducting the polls only after the festival season was complete in October. Since some states are going for polls and by-polls for MP seats and MLA seats the EC is busy planning out the schedule.
The state government which planned earlier to be ready for the polls either in Sept last week or October first week has urged the EC to conduct the same after festival season. The EC stated that it will go in for the polls in Huzurabad only after Dasara festival.
