Hyderabad: In a late night development fire erupted in the first unit of the Srisailam left bank hydel power generation unit in Domalapenta, of Amrabad Mandal in Nagarkurnool district due to which smoke engulfed entire six power units in the underground power generation station. According to preliminary reports the fire could have been a result of a short circuit.
While there were 19 workers inside the generation unit at the time of the fire accident, eight have escaped safely by running outside from the tunnel, remaining nine are still trapped inside. Out of the employees trapped inside 7 are staff of TSGENCO. Immediately power generation was stopped and firefighting units and rescue teams were working hard in darkness and heavy smoke to rescue the trapped persons.
