Mancherial’s Covid-19 pandemic curve continues to rise

Mancherial: The test reports of 12 suspects are awaited. Blood samples of 120 persons were sent to a virology lab for showing symptoms of coronavirus recently. Among the 116 Covid patients, 37 are native migrants and 17 locals. A total of 56 persons are primary contacts of the migrants. Six settled outside the district contracted the virus.

The highest single day spike

On Sunday, the district saw the highest single-day spike of 33 cases, when 10 residents of Chakepalli Bellampalli mandal and 17 natives of the coal belt town and six from Mandamarri and Thandur mandals were diagnosed with the acute respiratory disease. A scribe of a vernacular newspaper, a renowned textile merchant and his relative and driver of Mancherial town contracted the disease

14 containment zones 

In-charge District Health and Medical Officer Dr M Neeraja told ‘Telangana Today’ that cases were on the rise due to two carriers of the virus. Contacts of the carriers were identified, and 14 containment zones were created in Mancherial, Bellampalli towns and Naspur mandal to prevent further spread of the virus. A rapid health survey was being carried and persons with symptoms of the disease are being traced, she added.

The DMHO requested the public to practice physical distancing and to wear face masks. She urged the citizens not to step out unless it was an emergency.

Commercial establishment reduce timings

Meanwhile, business establishments voluntarily remain open from 10 am to 4 pm instead of 8 pm. Textile, readymade cloth centres, mobile phone stores belonging to Bellampalli town will be closed till July 5, while jewelry outlets will not be opened until July 10.
