Srihari called on Union Information & Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu in Delhi on Wednesday and discussed on the need for uniform service rules for the teachers to strengthen education system and overcome related problems. Andhra Pradesh Human Resources Development Minister Ghanta Srinivas Rao also attended the meeting with Venkaiah.
Srihari said he urged Venkaiah Naidu to get the approval from the Union Home Ministry in the wake of Union Law Ministry has already given its nod. He stated that the Centre is to give its final nod for the demand which will strengthen the education system in the States. “We have discussed on “Uniform Service Rules for Teachers” as it will help the State governments and Education departments to overcome related problems and strengthen the system”, he said.
Venkaiah Naidu spoke to officials of various departments on the pending issue and norms which the Union Law Ministry has given its stamp of approval. Srihari, who also holds Education portfolio made a strong pitch for relaxation or simplification of norms coming in the way of reforms in the Education sector for quite a long time.
On the Central approval for the uniform service rules, promotions of teachers will be taken up to overcome the problem in secondary school level and fill vacant posts. Both the Telugu states are facing problems at school level and seeking the “Uniform Service Rules for Teachers”, he said. The State government will fill vacant teacher posts, he said, adding that the Centre is to offer its nod. Srihari also said he would meet Union Human Resources Development Minister Prakash Javadekar and discuss on the government model schools.
